Introduction

Since its introduction in 1994, the Actuator/Sensor Interface, also known as AS-Interface, has become a widely used bus system on the lowest field level, used in net-working binary terminal devices, sensors, actuators, as well as analog sensors in the field of automation. It therefore can serve areas that cannot generally be networked at a reasonable cost by other fieldbus systems used in industrial automation.
